2016 Honors & Awards Nominees

The Americana Music Association has announced the nominees for its 15th annual Honors & Awards.  The winners of each category will be revealed during the Americana Honors and Awards show on September 21 2016 at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN.  The celebrated program is the capstone event of “AmericanaFest,” the Americana Music Festival and Conference, which runs from September 20-25, 2016.

Personally, I am thrilled with the inclusion of Chris Stapleton whose album was one of my favourites of 2015.  I have been keeping an eye on Chris’s tour dates and they haven’t been coinciding with my US tour plans for this August/September.  However, there is a tour break around the time of AmericanaFest and I can now assume with some hope that he will be performing in Nashville while I am there for the festival (fingers crossed!)

The Americana Music Association continues to cast a broad net over music genres and include them under the ‘Americana’ umbrella, with the inclusion of soul/blues A-graders Leon Bridges, Bonnie Raitt, Alabama Shakes and Tedeschi Trucks Band.  Vive la difference I say!

Each year, the Americana Music Association honors distinguished members of the music community with six member voted annual awards and with Lifetime Achievement Awards, which will be announced leading up to the event.
